1950s Vintage Dress

After I finished my courses with Wild Orchird Sewing I was inspired to try my hand at recreating a vintage sewing pattern. So I started mooching through etsy to see what fatory folded ptterns I could find, I stumbled across The Fifties Dressmaker and she has some lovely patterns for very reasonable prices (as shown by the fact that I keep buying more and more)

I start by tracing off a copy of the pattern so any modifications I need to make are on my copy and not the original pattern.

The next thing I noticed was the distinct lack of details in the sewing instructions. The level of skill and knowledge that was common place in the 1950s is immence and I didn’t realise how much I relied on the A2 pages of instructions that include pictures of what your next steps is.
